Healthy Trucker

I am proud to say that after a year and a half of proper diet and exercise, my weight is 225 pounds, my waist is between thirty-six and thirty-eight, and my blood pressure is consistently in the 115/70 range.

I can mountain bike for hours without tiring, and I can easily dolly down a trailer.

YOU can do this too!

Basics of Equipment

If you want to lose a few pounds and improve your cardiovascular condition, you will need different equipment than if you want to gain a large amount of muscle mass.

Personally, I set up my truck for everything: lots of cardio exercises and lots of heavy lifting. This is where your goals will dictate your needs, so keep your goals handy for reference.

Let’s talk about equipment for cardiovascular exercises. The first rule is to consult your physician before you begin any exercise plan. Once you’ve gotten the green light from your doctor, you can design a program.

Cardio can consist of walking, running, hiking, or biking—basically any movement that gets the heart pumping for an extended period of time. There is only one piece of essential equipment: a high quality pair of tennis shoes.
