Let me give an example: I have both endomorphic and mesomorphic traits. I am naturally muscular, with good posture and an athletic build. But I also tend to gain fat easily, and I tend to carry it all in the midsection.
With an understanding of my body type, I was able to develop a set of goals for myself (e.g., reduce my waist size into the thirties and gain muscle in the upper body). This set of goals allowed me to develop a plan that included weight lifting and abdominal muscle training in addition to an improved diet of more frequent, smaller meals that helped boost my metabolism.
Understanding my body type made it easier to develop a specific set of realistic goals and then develop a plan to achieve those goals.
