Healthy Trucker

I am proud to say that after a year and a half of proper diet and exercise, my weight is 225 pounds, my waist is between thirty-six and thirty-eight, and my blood pressure is consistently in the 115/70 range.

I can mountain bike for hours without tiring, and I can easily dolly down a trailer.

YOU can do this too!

About the Book

The road to weight-loss, weight management and healthy living for truckers by a trucker.

I have been a professional truck driver since August 2003. When I began my driving career, I was a typical twenty-nine-year-old who was a little overweight (all right, maybe more than a little). I was five feet, ten inches and weighed 225.

Then I started driving — and I ballooned in size. My thirty-eight-inch waist became forty inches, then forty-two inches, and onward. My weight had become 277 pounds, and I no longer recognized what I had become. My blood pressure was up to 138/88, almost to the one-year range of qualification. I was shocked!

This is my journey back to health. It took a year and a half of research, good eating and exercise.

I have tried to document the best exercises, nutritional information, exercise suggestions, and supplementation advice that worked for me to help you achieve your specific goals. All of these ideas are common sense and easy to use within the context of a truck driver’s lifestyle.

I have lost 60 to 70 pounds of fat and gained 10 to 20 pounds of muscle. But the coolest thing is that I no longer recognize the man in the mirror; I always expect to see the old me, not the new me.

My sincerest hope is that you will use my story as an inspiration to get yourself back on the road to a healthy trucker lifestyle.
